Stephen Kick is the CEO of Night Dive Studios.
Kick was traveling with Alix Banegas when he tried to play System Shock 2 on a laptop he had brought with him. Finding that the game wasn't compatible with any system later than Windows XP, he tried to purchase the game off GOG.com, but found that it wasn't available. This gave Kick the idea of forming Night Dive, focusing on reviving games that were no longer compatible with modern systems and/or not available to purchase legally.
Kick contacted Star Insurance Company, which held the rights to the series since the closure of Looking Glass Studios in 2000. Kick negotiated a re-release of System Shock 2 on Steam and Good Old Games. Their version was launched in 2013.
