An O.S.A. Agent is one of the three classes in System Shock 2.

While classes in System Shock 2 do not ultimately limit the types of weapons or abilities a player can use, it will definitely factor into when you gain access to said weapons and skills. Players should carefully consider their class choice on Hard or Impossible since the cost of upgrades increases at higher difficulty levels.

Tour of Duty

Upon selecting this class, you head to the Orbital Station Chun Lo (also known as Station 74/34A), a space station in orbit around Earth to begin your 3 year training. You are automatically given access to Tier One Psionic Disciplines.

Strategies

  • Players focused on psionic disciplines should start the game as an O.S.A. Agent, of course.
    • The upgrades an O.S.A. Agent obtains at the beginning of the game are worth 8-12 more Cybernetic Modules than those any other class receives. Accordingly, if a player intends to use Tier 1/2 psionic disciplines at any point, they should play as an O.S.A. Agent.
  • Starting as an O.S.A. Agent does not mean one must be on a full psionic discipline approach. Specializing in melee weapons is a very powerful play style, as one can unlock the following psionic disciplines at the beginning or on the MedSci Deck:
    • Psychogenic Agility which can be used to catch up with Cyborg Assassins on early levels.
    • Adrenaline Overproduction which increases melee damage by 13%-830% once being activated, according to one's psionic level, and the player can smash any foe in one hit;
    • Localized Pyrokinesis which makes the player immune to the explosion of Protocol Droids or any droids, and eliminates the greatest threat of any melee weapon user.
  • O.S.A. Agent is the only class that does not start with any Standard Weapons skill. However, one normally needs at least level 1 in order to use a Talon M2A3 .45 Caliber Pistol, otherwise mechanical opponents could be very hard to defeat.
  • In Year 1, all choices are practical:
    • Considering O.S.A. Agents are generally weak in front of security devices, Hacking comes in handy, as does Psychogenic Cyber-Affinity;
    • Kinetic Redirection allows the player to obtain otherwise-unobtainable items;
    • Psycho-Reflective Screen is also useful as every bit of protection helps.
    • This is not a very important choice anyway, as all the above mentioned disciplines will start becoming redundant later.
  • In Year 3, it is highly recommended to choose Psychogenic Agility, due to the uselessness of both Neuro-Reflex Dampening and Remote Electron Tampering.

Trivia

  • During your third year of character training on the space station, don't hurry off to a new mission right away. Turn left, and spend a while watching the Protocol Droid through the window.
